Bishop's Battle Buddies

What It Is

Bishop’s Battle Buddies is a support program of The LauraBishop Burbridge Foundation, and is created to help veterans navigate the VA system with clarity, encouragement, and dignity. We connect veterans with trained volunteers—often other veterans—who can help them understand next steps and stay organized as they pursue benefits and services.

Support may include help to understand and organize:

  • VA registration and getting started
  • VA healthcare enrollment and appointments
  • Benefits navigation and general guidance
  • Disability claims support (process guidance and paperwork organization)
  • Finding the right VA office or resource for your situation

We do not provide legal advice. We do not guarantee outcomes or benefit approvals.

Who We Serve

Bishop’s Battle Buddies serves veterans within our service area who want help navigating VA-related services and benefits.

Where We Serve

We serve Paulding County, Douglas County, and parts of Cobb County (Austell, Mableton, Powder Springs), Georgia.

How It Works

  1. Submit a request for support (application/request form required)
  2. A volunteer will review your request and follow up with next steps
  3. If matched, you’ll be connected with a Battle Buddy for guidance and support
  4. You’ll receive updates primarily by email (and may receive text updates when available/opted-in)

Submitting a request does not guarantee assistance. Support depends on volunteer availability and scheduling.

Volunteer Guidelines (How We Serve with Care)

Our volunteers are committed to:

  • Treating every veteran with compassion, dignity, and kindness
  • Respecting confidentiality and privacy
  • Not making promises about timelines or outcomes
  • Referring veterans to appropriate official VA resources when needed
